Snoqualmie Valley Hospital begins a winning volunteer program
The Snoqualmie Valley Hospital District is accepting applications for a new Volunteer Program. Local residents can choose from a diversity of volunteer opportunities such as reading to patients, providing comfort and companionship, greeting and escorting visitors to their destination, tidying up rooms, running errands or providing clerical and office support.

Reducing financial barriers to primary care
The North Bend Medical Clinic is among a handful of Washington State healthcare providers now offering primary care services by direct agreement with individuals. Not an insurance plan, Affordable Access goes well beyond the annual physical exam to include valuable expertise and services to promote health, prevent disease, diagnose and treat minor illnesses and injuries as well as manage chronic diseases.

Late season Wash-a-Roma needs volunteers
Teen and adult volunteers are needed to have fun and wash cars (or get your car washed) during the Snoqualmie Valley Hospital Foundation’s grand Wash-a-rama! This late season car wash is on Saturday, September 12th at Les Schwab Tires in North Bend.

Third Annual Falls Prevention Conference

For the third time in as many years, the SVH Rehabilitation Department is offering the public, fitness instructors and eldercare professionals an opportunity to learn the latest research on falls prevention. Health Fair

Several of the 150 attendees “found their bean,” among the 3,689 jelly beans on display at SVH Hospital/Clinics’ booth at the May 16th SnoValley Health Fair. Each bean represented a different patient served by the ER in 2008. One very enthusiastic woman happy to have her dislocated finger again pointing the right direction following her visit to the ER reported no wait and was “thrilled with the kindness of the staff.”. ADH saved by SVH
Earlier this year, the Washington State Legislature slashed 72% funding from Adult Day Services. Many Adult Day Health Centers have had to close including the flagship center for ElderHealth Northwest in Seattle. The KCPHD#4 Board of Commissioners acted quickly to make sure a similar fate did not occur for SnoValley Senior Center’s long running Adult Day Health program. Read more (pdf) »

Hospital Relocation

Swing Bed Program
On April 1st, the Washington State Senate passed a “Swing Bed” bill that will now go to the governor for signing. This will allow Snoqualmie Valley Hospital to offer up to 15 swing beds during 2009 and up to 25 beds available for swing bed status beginning in 2010.
